First run in the ASICS Megablast. The shoe uses a thick stack of FF Turbo². It’s made of aTPU, but it’s different from the aTPU in the FF Leap of the MetaSpeed Sky, Edge, or Ray. The shoe behaves in many ways like the Superblast, and it reminds me more of version 1 than version 2. But it does it with a single layer of foam that doesn’t require a daily training foam bottom layer. I’ve used this shoe for easy runs with strides and longer runs with speedy miles as part of the workout. The shoe is very good at being a max cushion shoe, but it really gets exciting when you pick up the pace. The squish gets better, the bounciness gets better, and the shoe’s light weight makes the whole thing feel very energetic. My Megablast comes in at a measured weight that is the same as the Rebel v5 and the Endorphin Pro 4. The upper design reminds me of Superblast 1, but it’s a thinner material that handles summer temps much better. Overall, it takes everything I loved about Superblast 1 and takes it to another level. . The shoe certainly does cost a lot at $220, but like the Superblast, I suspect Asics isn’t going to have a problem selling these, even at that high price. . Disclosures: these shoes were provided to me, so I didn’t have to pay for them. No one paid me to make this video or to include their brand in this video. No one previewed it before it published.
