EDP82: World Ultimate Championships - Jakob wins another 5000m, Kazimierska's Perfect Peak, Kerr is untouchable, Sedjati dethrones Wanyonyi

Episode 82 is here and the inaugural World Ultimate Championships delivered.

The boys break down a massive three days of racing in Budapest, with huge prize money, stacked fields and some of the best championship-style racing we’ve seen all year.

👑 Jakob is back — Jakob Ingebrigtsen takes down a loaded 5000m field, closing in 12.6 for the final 100m to beat Cole Hocker and an army of Americans. We discuss how the race played out, why none of us picked him and whether we underestimated just how dangerous Jakob remains over 5K.

💰 World Ultimate Championships — Claudia Kazimierska continues an incredible end to the season, Audrey Werro takes another huge 800m win, Gudaf Tsegay’s rivals are caught sleeping in the women’s 5000m and the men’s 800m produces another chaotic finish. We also give our verdict on the new championship format, the enormous prize money, qualification system and whether World Athletics has finally landed on something that works.

🇦🇺 Cam Myers hypothetical season continues — after his incredible end to the year, we ask whether Cam could have mixed it with Jakob and Hocker in that 5000m final.

🗽 Fifth Avenue Mile — Marco Langon takes a huge win in New York in 3:45, Adam Spencer lands on the podium and Gemma Reekie flies to a course record in the women’s race.

🚴 70.3 World Championships — Dean takes us briefly into the dark side as the Norwegian Method boys Christian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden feature in another ridiculous triathlon battle.

🇮🇪 Irish racing — Eoin takes us through Ratoath and Charleville Half Marathons as Dublin Marathon preparations begin to get serious, including an impressive first half marathon from Road to Dublin’s Bri.

🇬🇧 Great North Run — one of the biggest half marathons in the world delivers another deep field, with plenty of familiar names further down the results.

Plus Ryan moves approximately 200 metres across East Perth, wheels a wine fridge down the street while carrying cycling shoes, Dean discovers every recovery contraption known to man, Eoin destroys himself doing sprint drills, and the usual Easy Double fact-checking goes about as well as expected.
