Fast swimming runs in the Hall family. Charlie, a promising athlete, is the son of 10-time Olympic medalist Gary Hall Jr. and the grandson of 3-time Olympic medalist Gary Hall Sr., who also had the pleasure of coaching him this past summer. Charlie has developed an impressive straight arm technique and is training diligently. We're thrilled to witness Charlie's progress in the near future 👀 Currently, we're focusing on improving Charlie's pulling motion to achieve a more optimal position with his elbow over his hand. In the video, you can observe how the elbow leads the hand, which results in a loss of pulling leverage on the water.

Trying to improve your backstroke times? Keep these things in mind! 1. Keep your head in proper alignment. Too many swimmers "read in bed", meaning they are looking down at their feet and causing excessive frontal drag. 2. Maintain full rotation each stroke. Think about touching your shoulder to your chin, maximizing rotation. 3. Break the elbow on the backstroke pull. By bending our elbow, we increase water force and keep our hand moving in a straight line towards our feet.
