Backstroke Elevation Drill #theraceclub
We find that many backstrokers are losing a valuable portion of their pull due to a poor recovery. Swimmers often under rotate and fail to hyper extend their shoulders on the backstroke recovery. The backstroke elevation drill demonstrated in this video can help emphasize the rotation and shoulder position that swimmers should aim for. Greater extension and rotation will allow swimmers to both couple and propel themselves better, significantly improving velocity. #theraceclub #swimming #sprint #swim #freestyle #fast #coach #coaching #pool #experiment #swimcoach #triathlon #olympicswimming #usaswimming #swimstagram #olympictrials #fitness #fitnessmotivation #motivation #effort #attitude #toughness #athlete #sports #swimmingworld #swimswam #consistency #reels #nature #photography

Stretch Cords On The Beach #theraceclub
Check out coach Mike demonstrating how to use stretch cords to improve freestyle catch out on the beach. We find that stretch cords can be a fun tool to incorporate into workouts to help ensure proper pull technique. Here we can see Mike focusing on keeping his elbow high and flexing his wrist at the end of his pull. #theraceclub #swimming #butterfly #swim #dolphin #fly #fast #coach #coaching #pool #swimcoach #olympicswimming #usaswimming #swimstagram #olympictrials #fitness #fitnessmotivation #motivation #effort #attitude #toughness #athlete #sports #swimmingworld #swimswam #consistency #reels #nature #photography #dolphinkick

Increase Your Stroke Rate in Backstroke #theraceclub
Even with excellent backstroke technique, victory is elusive without a competitive stroke rate. Numerous swimmers find it challenging to increase their stroke rate, so we recommend the dolphin kick backstroke drill with a Finis tempo trainer to help them accelerate their turnover. Once you've perfected slower stroke rates with this exercise, attempt to boost the tempo to match the beep. Before long, you'll find yourself achieving competitive stroke rates in backstroke. Do you know what the competitive stroke rates for the 200, 100, and 50 backstroke race?

How To Fix Your Kick #theraceclub
A very common issue among both age group and masters swimmers that we see at The Race Club is an inefficient kick characterized by over bending of the knees and sinking legs. The root issue is, most frequently immobile ankles, specifically poor plantar flexion. When a swimmer is unable to properly plantar flex the ankle they are forced to exaggerate the kick to generate more propulsion. This exaggeration leads to greater frontal drag and in turn slows the swimmer down. In this video coach Gary goes over one of our favorite stretches to improve plantar flexion and improve your kick without even getting in the water. #theraceclub #swimming #sprint #swim #freestyle #fast #coach #coaching #pool #experiment #swimcoach #triathlon #olympicswimming #usaswimming #swimstagram #olympictrials #fitness #fitnessmotivation #motivation #effort #attitude #toughness #athlete #sports #swimmingworld #swimswam #consistency #reels #nature #photography

Are you struggling to make progress in your underwater dolphin kick speed? The most common mistake we see in swimmers is an over-emphasis on the down kick, and lack of focus on the up kick as well. To get the most from our kick, we need to move both ways efficiently. One of our favorite drills to focus on kicking both directions is a simple fish kick drill. With the swimmer on their side, they over-dramatically kick in both directions, feeling the water pressure on both sides of their fins. Take your time when doing this drill, and try to kick the lane lines on either side of you! #swim #swimmer #dolphinkick #underwaterkick #theraceclub #technique #fast #tips #coach #athlete #swimswam #usaswimming #fitness

🚨 SKATE DRILL🚨 We teach skate drill to help swimmers understand the motion of going forward on their breath, rather than go up and down. By setting up with a light scull and smooth dolphin kick, time your pull through with a down kick and launch yourself forward - keeping your chin close to surface of the water. Think about keeping your elbows high in the water and pushing past the elbows. Try this drill for faster butterfly breathing! #theraceclub #swimming #sprint #swim #freestyle #fast #coach #coaching #pool #experiment #swimcoach #triathlon #olympicswimming #usaswimming #swimstagram #olympictrials #fitness #fitnessmotivation #motivation #effort #attitude #toughness #athlete #sports #swimmingworld #swimswam #consistency #reels #nature #photography

When to start kicking off a turn #theraceclub
When should a swimmer initiate their dolphin kick after a turn? Its a common misconception that swimmers should hold their line off a wall before starting their kick. However, at The Race Club, we've discovered that it's always faster to begin with an up-kick into a swimmer's vortex immediately after pushing off the wall. For more insights and detailed techniques on the dolphin kick, check out our longer video and additional resources on our website! #theraceclub #swimming #sprint #swim #freestyle #fast #coach #coaching #pool #experiment #swimcoach #triathlon #olympicswimming #usaswimming #swimstagram #olympictrials #fitness #fitnessmotivation #motivation #effort #attitude #toughness #athlete #sports #swimmingworld #swimswam #consistency #reels #nature #photography
