Jonah Choi has recently mastered the late breath butterfly technique and excels at it. If you're not acquainted with the late breath butterfly, you might want to check out Kate Douglas or Joseph Schooling's styles. This approach involves keeping the head submerged during the initiation of the pull and swiftly lifting it for breathing. It offers several benefits, including reduced drag and energy conservation, although maintaining a high stroke rate becomes more challenging.
We compared Jonah's early breath with his late breath technique and were thrilled to see his late breath was quicker, even with a marginally reduced stroke rate. We believe he can refine an incredible late breath butterfly!
Have you ever experimented with this method? This technique can also be applied to breaststroke. A prime example is Tatjiana Smith (Schoenmaker), and we offer a comprehensive Late Breath Breaststroke Video series featuring Noah Snyder in our subscription service.
