If you want to build a more powerful catch, you have to develop your "feel" for the water. This lateral sculling drill forces you to focus entirely on the pressure and angles of your hands.
Here is how to do it:
The Position: Sit back in the water as if you are sitting in a chair with your legs brought up.
The Movement: Face the side of the pool and use only your hands and forearms to scull and move yourself completely sideways.
The Focus: Pay attention to how your fingers move, the angles of your hands, and how the water pressure changes with every sweep.
