How I Increased My Clubhead Speed From 113 to 131 MPH
Keep the session moving with another watch from the same channel.
Ever stood behind a tree or approaching a tucked pin with nowhere to go but up?
Most golfers try to “scoop” this shot flipping the wrists at the ball to help it up in the air. It feels like the right instinct, but it kills your chance of making a quality strike right when you need it most.
Here is what you actually want:
✅ A wider stance than normal for extra stability through the shot
✅ Handle set a little lower at address, with the clubface quite open
✅ Soft wrists through impact — let the clubhead release fast underneath the ball instead of steering it
Try this drill: Set up with that wider stance and lower handle, open the face, then feel the clubhead work fast underneath the handle through impact rather than trying to lift the ball yourself.
Do this and the club does the work for you and the ball pops straight up with plenty of height and speed to clear whatever’s in your way.
