Breaststroke Kick Rate Test #theraceclub
Stroke rate in breaststroke is largely dictated by one thing: kick cycle time.
And the most common reason swimmers plateau? They're pulling their heels too deep toward the hips — which creates drag AND slows the kick before the catch even begins.
We use a tempo trainer set at 60 strokes/min to recalibrate kick timing. When the beep is external, swimmers stop over-thinking and start moving faster than they believed possible.
The improvement shows up in the data every time — especially in age groupers.
