Racing Streamline for Breaststroke #theraceclub
Breaststroke is unique: regardless of our proficiency, we slow to nearly a stop when beginning the kick. This means that in breaststroke especially we must seize every opportunity to reduce drag while we are moving through the water.
In this video we go over a great drill for teaching a more streamlined position in breaststroke right after the strike phase. We call this position racing streamline. Racing streamline has the chin tucked to the chest like hyper streamline, but the index fingers come together and the thumbs sit underneath the hand. This orientation reduces frontal drag and lets us transition seamlessly into the propulsive pulling motion. For more information check out our website!
