Do your flip turns feel a little clunky or out of rhythm?
You are certainly not alone. Let’s take a mindful look at three gentle adjustments to help you glide through your turns effortlessly. 🌊
Check your gaze - Looking up at the wall breaks your alignment and immediately slows your beautiful momentum. Try keeping your chin softly tucked and let your eyes follow the T-line on the bottom of the pool instead.
Tighten your tuck - A wide, loose turn creates unnecessary resistance. I’d love for you to try bringing your knees tight to your chest. This compact shape helps you spin so much faster and with far less effort.
Quiet your hands - It is tempting to throw your arms out wide to force the flip, but that just fights the water. Try keeping your arms nice and quiet, gently guiding them straight together to set up a smooth, streamlined push-off.
Technique comes before speed. Take your time practicing these small shifts during your next warmup, and always swim with a smile! 💙
