If your legs feel completely drained after just one lap…Do this instead!
Because our legs hold the largest muscles in our body, wide, heavy kicks drain our oxygen incredibly fast. Instead of propelling you forward, an overly large kick can actually create drag and pull your hips down.
On your next swim, I’d love for you to try softening your kick. Instead of bending at the knees, try keeping your legs long and relaxed, gently initiating the movement right from your hips. Imagine you are just lightly fluttering your feet inside a really narrow cylinder.
This small, mindful adjustment saves so much of your energy and helps you glide effortlessly through the water. Technique comes before speed, so take your time focusing on this during your warmup, and always swim with a smile! 💙
