STRING TIP #6 - Does lowering tension on the crosses increase spin?
Tennis
Spin is mainly generated by the mains through “snapback,” when the strings return to their original position after ball impact.
👉 Lower tension on the crosses allows more main string movement
👉 More movement = greater snapback effect
👉 Greater snapback = more spin potential
In short, adjusting cross tension can directly influence how much spin you can produce.
