If you want to build a more powerful and efficient stroke, you need to try the Single Arm Freestyle drill. It is a more advanced drill, but it is one of the absolute best ways to tie your rotation and your breathing together.
Here is how to execute it perfectly:
The Setup: Keep one arm down at your side while the other arm takes the strokes. Pro tip: Throw on a pair of fins to keep your momentum going and make the drill a bit easier!
Rotate to Both Sides: It is crucial that you get full body rotation to both sides as you swim, not just the side you are pulling on.
Nail the Timing: Let your fingertips enter the water, rotate, and get to full extension. Finish your breath, put your head back down, and then rotate all the way through your pull.
