Distance per stroke and power per stroke are the absolute biggest leverage points when it comes to dropping time. But there is a catch.
If you overreach and stretch out too much, your tempo slows down dramatically. You might take fewer strokes, but you actually end up swimming slower overall because you lose all your forward momentum.
Here is how to find the perfect balance:
Be Intentional: When your hand enters the water, make sure you do not shorten your extension.
Keep Your Momentum: Get that full extension, but immediately transition into a strong catch so you do not stall out.
Power Over Glide: Focus on pulling water efficiently rather than just gliding for as long as possible.
