Chwalinska Wins Wuhan! Svitolina & Monfils Split & Retire + Djokovic targets ATP Finals

Maja Chwalinska wins the Wuhan Open, Sonay Kartal’s dream run falls just short and Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils announce their shock separation! Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as we catch up on a dramatic week on and off the court. Chwalinska followed up her incredible Roland Garros run with the biggest title of her career, but does her WTA 1000 triumph prove she’s an all-court threat rather than just a clay specialist, as previously suggested by Anna Kalinskaya? We also celebrate Sonay Kartal’s remarkable comeback from injury and discuss Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s stunning Shanghai Masters title run (undefeated this year in Asia!) plus what his new coach José Clavet has brought to his game after beating fellow Spaniard Rafael Jodar in the final.

Elsewhere, Daniil Medvedev sparks debate over replay requests during points and should umpires be tougher on him, while Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz accept wildcards into Basel and Vienna as the race to Turin heats up. We also unpack the shock Svitolina-Monfils separation, the timing of their announcement and what it means for the tennis power couple’s future. Plus, why was the Six Kings Slam postponed, and could the new dates disrupt Australian Open preparations? Finally, we look at Forty Love, the French tennis film starring Romeo Beckham (yes, really) that’s being compared to Heated Rivalry meets Challengers!
