Freddy Peralta May Soon Be the LAST 2026 Met Left Standing | Are Trade Rentals EVER Worth It?

New York Mets overhaul the roster with eight midseason trades—are deadline deals truly worth it for contenders?

Ryan Finkelstein breaks down how former Mets like Brooks Raley, AJ Minter, Luke Weaver, and Freddy Peralta fared with their new teams, spotlighting which acquisitions paid off and which flopped under playoff pressure.

The conversation focused on prospects acquired by the Mets, such as Billy Amick, Jefferson Rojas, and Aidan Smith, and evaluated whether these high-upside talents position the Mets for a brighter future.

A key theme that emerged was the unpredictability of reliever performance after deadline moves, highlighted by Brooks Raley’s collapse with the Philadelphia Phillies and Peralta’s resurgence pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays.

The discussion explored whether teams should target players with contract control or rentals—and questioned if buyers take the bigger risk come October.

Can the Mets’ prospect haul change their long-term fortunes?
