Colten Ellis SHUTS OUT the Sharks and makes case for most starts for the Buffalo Sabres

Colten Ellis got his first start for the Buffalo Sabres in over two weeks and man did he show up. Ellis made a bunch of massive saves on his way to a 23-save shutout, making the case that he should be in a rotation with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen at the very least, let alone given the chance to run with the starting job. The Sabres did play well defensively in front of Ellis, mainly blocking shots with a season high 20. The team did struggle with turnovers, especially early. Ellis earned the next game on Thursday night, but will he get it?

Meanwhile, Lindy Ruff's new lines looked spectacular... but only scored one goal before the goalie was pulled. The big surprise was how well the line of Jason Zucker, Josh Norris, Ryan McLeod was excellent. And of course, Tage Thompson and Konsta Helenius immediately looked better on a line with Zach Benson. Should we be concerned that even in a game where they looked great, the Sabres could only beat the goaltender once?
