Tennessee catcher Trent Grindlinger joins On the Clock, presented by The College Baseball Show and Just Baseball, to talk about his breakout freshman season (.345/.414/.572 with 8 home runs and 29 RBIs, earning SEC All-Freshman honors) and what’s ahead for the Vols in 2027. The Huntington Beach, California native explains why he chose Tennessee and the SEC, how head coach Josh Elander’s hitting prep builds confidence before every at-bat, and his offseason focus on proving he can catch every day. He also breaks down a loaded pitching staff full of high-velocity freshmen and transfers, the electric Friday night atmosphere at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, the hitters he models his swing after (Mike Trout and Junior Caminero), and why he believes this veteran-heavy Tennessee roster has what it takes to get back to Omaha and win it all.
