Lindy Ruff SHAKING UP the lines ahead of Buffalo Sabres visit to San Jose

The Buffalo Sabres have been struggling to score so far this season, outside of one line Zach Benson-Noah Östlund-Jack Quinn, and Lindy Ruff is attempting to break that line up to create multiple scoring lines. Benson has proved that he can get anyone on his line going for over a year, which he will now attempt to do with Tage Thompson and Konsta Helenius. Meanwhile, Östlund and Quinn will try to do the same with Josh Doan.

Colten Ellis for the first time in over two weeks gets another crack in goal. With Alex Lyon still missing to do injury, Ellis getting rolling is vital to re-create last year's goalie rotation. With Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen struggling, Ellis might be the only hope of giving him some relief. Looking at San Jose, Macklin Celebrini might be the most valuable player in the NHL, leading a team that otherwise doesn't have a lot of talent. The Sharks blueline is maybe the worst in the NHL and one that the Sabres should be able to get their goal scoring going against.
