Terran Hoyt | Fun Friday: How to Inject More Team Bonding into Practice

Coaching isn't just X's and O's - it's culture, trust, and the courage to be yourself when your last name already comes with expectations. Terran Hoyt, assistant coach at Oklahoma State, reveals how a Hall of Fame family legacy, player-led accountability, and joy-filled team building create a program that wins and lasts.

Raised in a basketball family where her mom coached both her and her sister Jaycie, Terran shares how she found her own voice inside a dynasty of coaches - from drawing up flag football plays in fifth grade to stepping into her own path after college.

She opens up about the tension and tenderness of being coached by family, the lessons that came from four state championships and a 107-game win streak, and why authenticity, loyalty, resourcefulness, and belief guide everything she does.

You'll discover how Oklahoma State builds sisterhood with "Fun Friday," why a blank practice plan can create true player leadership, and how team culture becomes real only when adversity hits.

Terran also breaks down her ideal practice structure, the difference between good and great chemistry, and why she believes the best coaches help players become the best version of themselves - on the court and beyond it.

If you've ever wondered how elite programs build connection without losing competitive edge, this conversation is packed with practical ideas you can steal immediately.

Perfect for coaches, athletes, and anyone who believes culture is more than a buzzword.

Terran also shares how she uses social media and a monthly coaches newsletter to give back to the game, including drills, terminology, and fun team-building ideas that other coaches are already borrowing.

Whether you're building a roster, a locker room, or a better practice plan, this episode delivers the kind of insights that make you want to take notes and hit play again.
