COACH LAURA FILLA: The Hidden Dangers of OVERTRAINING for Runners
Spot Sports video
Too many runners are overtraining—and there are detriments and dangers to this for both a runner’s physical health and mental health.
Today running coach and founder of Filla Endurance Laura Filla and I discuss what overtraining or imbalanced running looks like and have suggestions for how to ensure you have a healthy relationship with running.
We begin by learning more about Laura Filla, a mom of two, and her running journey. Laura's running story began in middle school thanks to a nudge from her mom to join the track team. From there, her passion for running blossomed, though like many, she took a hiatus during her early adulthood. It wasn't until she became a mom that she rediscovered running, using it as a powerful tool to navigate postpartum challenges, including postpartum depression.
In this episode, Laura and I discuss critical topics such as:
🌀the importance of mental health for new moms and her personal struggle with low ferritin—highlighting a key sign that something may be off in your health.
🌀how a fresh perspective on our running journeys can propel us forward
🌀the often-overlooked issue of unhealthy running habits.
🌀and, the dangers of overtraining and how maintaining balance in our fitness routines are invaluable for any runner.
Laura’s truly a gem, and I know you're going to love learning more about her and her approach to running and motherhood.
