Baby Swim | Evie 11 Months Turning
In this baby swim video you will observe 3 vital swimming skills including gripping onto the T-Shit, holding onto the side of the pool and turning independently to the parent. On land parents give baby an opportunity to explore and develop their mobility skills like rolling, crawling, pulling up and standing skills. Caregivers should provide similar opportunities during the swimming lesson.
Learning to hold on to a deck level pool and support their own body weight is a great achievement for an 11 month old baby. As baby grows with age we can build this skill into a monkey activity were they move their hands along the wall to climb out of the water at a step or ladder.
Practicing a turning skill, where baby lets go of the wall to find the parents T-shirt shows great confidence and independence. The mobility that baby has on land will cross over to the swimming lesson. Under your supervision encourage baby to strike out on their own and enjoy underwater play and exploration.
All baby swimming classes must be conducted in a safe and positive learn to swim environment. Each Baby and Toddler should be encouraged to learn to swim according to their individual readiness. The learn to swim process should follow a step by step process including water familiarisation, breath control, submersion, floating and propulsion. Adult supervision is always required when in and around the water. To learn all about how to teach swimming to babies visit my website and get my online program at babyswim.info
