Thailand made a powerful start to the 2026 AVC Women's Continental Championship, defeating Australia in straight sets and showing why they entered the tournament as the defending Asian champions!

Thailand dominated the match from the beginning and secured a convincing 3–0 victory with set scores of 25–15, 25–15 and 25–18 at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium in Tianjin, China.

Thailand controlled the first two sets with strong serving, powerful attacks, excellent reception and disciplined defence. Australia fought hard and showed their best resistance in the third set, taking an early 12–9 lead, but Thailand responded with a strong comeback and eventually closed the set 25–18 to complete the sweep.

🔥 PLAYER OF THE MATCH:
Sasipapron Janthawisut was the standout performer, finishing with an impressive 19 points. Her powerful attacking and serving helped Thailand maintain control throughout the match.

Thailand also received important contributions from some of their biggest stars, including Pimpichaya Kokram, Chatchu-On Moksri, Thatdao Nuekjang, Kaewkalaya Kamulthala and captain Pornpun Guedpard. Piyanut Pannoy provided defensive stability as libero.

Thailand's starting lineup featured Pornpun Guedpard, Thatdao Nuekjang, Kaewkalaya Kamulthala, Pimpichaya Kokram, Sasipapron Janthawisut and Chatchu-On Moksri, with Piyanut Pannoy playing libero.

🏆 ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT:

The 2026 AVC Women's Continental Championship is being held in Tianjin, China, from August 21 to August 30, featuring 12 of Asia's top women's national volleyball teams.

The tournament is extremely important because the champion earns a direct qualification place for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, while the top three teams qualify for the 2027 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship.

Thailand entered the competition as the defending Asian champions and were placed in Pool B alongside Australia, Indonesia and Kazakhstan. Starting the tournament with a 3–0 victory and three points was an excellent beginning for the Thai national team.

Thailand's combination of powerful attacking, aggressive serving, strong reception and organized defence made the difference against Australia. Although Australia fought back strongly in the third set, Thailand showed their experience and quality when it mattered most.
