3x5k at marathon effort with 1k jog recovery. 20 miles total. . I’ve been struggling with the long run. Last long run was supposed to be a 20 miler with 10mi at marathon effort, but I seized up and had to walk at 18.3mi. Other long runs were ok, but not really long enough and the paces that marathon effort translated to were just much slower than I felt like they should have been. . This run was starting out that way, with the first rep at about 3h10 pace - a bit slower than I’d like but it felt like it was kinda easy. So I pushed a bit further to get to about 3h05 pace for the 2nd 5k rep. And that felt like I was working in the right effort level. The third rep felt great and I felt like I could really get into a rhythm at about 3h02 pace. And then I was able to fairly easily add on the remaining easy miles to get to 20 miles for the day. . It’s a relief when you finally feel like things are starting to fall into place. .
