After 5 long years and 8 coaches, Emma Raducanu has finally reunited with her US Open winning coach on a permanent basis. Following a trial earlier this month at the Ferrer Academy, Andrew Richardson has now rejoined the team on a full time and ongoing basis. The partnership speaks to Emma's desire to get back to the type of tennis she was playing when she won the 2021 US Open under Richardson's guidance. The initial split sent shock waves into the tennis community when after 9 weeks and a grand slam Raducanu chose not to continue the partnership with Richardson citing his desire to coach his son, this was disputed in 2023 by Richardson saying it was never the case and rather the team were seeking a big time coach with more WTA tour level experience.
All that appears to be water under the bridge now as Raducanu and Richardson have reunited for the French Open in Paris ahead of what they will be hoping will be a fruitful grass season as Emma comes back from a viral injury.
