Before his 16-year coaching career began, the HOF Alabama product played 16 years in the big leagues. The on-base machine still sits second on the New York Mets’ all time list at .391. Mags played for six other teams (Marlins, Mariners, Cubs, Astros, Padres and A’s) and was SPARKKed by some of the best to play in his generation. What I enjoy most about Mags is his calm delivery of information. He is a baseball lifer and has helped ball players for the past three decades. His knowledge has helped players like Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Adrian Beltre, Prince Fielder and and continues to help current MLB stars Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story. I am just humbled to have had his knowledge impact my game personally.
