Billy Kenny Exclusive: THE GOODISON GAZZA’s Rise, Fall, and Redemption!

Join host Chris Beesley for a very special edition of the Royal Blue Podcast, as he sits down for an exclusive and fiercely candid chat with former teenage footballing sensation, Billy Kenny.

When Billy made his debut for his boyhood heroes Everton in 1992, he was widely dubbed the finest young talent in the country. A scintillating performance in the very first Merseyside derby of the Premier League era led to teammate Peter Beardsley famously nicknaming him ‘The Goodison Gazza’—cementing his reputation as a young midfielder with the world at his feet.

But just three years later, it was all over.

In this deeply moving and raw interview, Billy opens up about his rapid departure from the game, retiring after being dogged by severe drug and alcohol issues that eventually took him to the brink of death. He speaks openly about enduring betrayal and heartbreak, injury and arrest, and reveals how it ultimately took a devastating family tragedy, a stint in prison, and two hard-fought spells in rehab to help him finally find a more positive path forward.

Now, three decades on from his dizzying breakthrough at Goodison Park, Billy is finally ready to tell his extraordinary story for the first time.
