Would the Mets Have PRIORITIZED Freddy Peralta Over Tarik Skubal If the Trade Never Happened?

New York Mets’ Freddy Peralta trade may have saved the team from a bigger offseason gamble.

If Peralta hadn’t struggled in New York, would David Stearns be targeting him over top free agent Tarik Skubal this winter?

Ryan Finkelstein examines Peralta’s ALCS dominance, what changed for him after leaving the Mets, and how Tampa Bay helped him rediscover his ace form.

The episode breaks down the Mets’ revised pitching priorities, Zac Thornton’s intriguing comments on the young homegrown rotation, and why acquiring Skubal could be the move that takes the pressure off emerging arms like McLean, Christian Scott, and Jonah Tong.

Will Skubal signing with New York shift the franchise’s rotation—and its destiny—for years to come?
