TOMMY PRICE | From dying on a recce, to completing the Bob Graham Round!

On the Home Trails Podcast this week, I speak to Tommy Price, the ultimate comeback kid!

During a winter Bob recce, Tommy encountered severe weather that quickly made him hypothermic. His mate Max, unable to move Tommy back down the mountain had to make the decision to wrap him in a bivvy bag and go for help.

Shortly after, Tommy crawled out of the bag and suffered cardiac arrest while his body temperature plummeted to just 20 degrees. After hours out on the hill, exposed to the -15 wind chill, most paramedics would have assumed he was beyond saving, but Keswick MRT had other ideas!

They summoned a helicopter from North Wales to airlift Tommy to Newcastle where he received life saving treatments. Tommy wasn't out of the woods just yet as doctors feared he would be left brain damaged because he his heart had stopped for so long.

But, not only did he recover. But he recovered enough to race the London marathon in aid of his beloved Keswick MRT. Then, to complete the circle, Tommy returned to the Lake District to finish what he started. A successful Bob Graham Round!
