ORIOLES POSTCAST: Pete Alonso Hits 40th HR as Baltimore Orioles STORM Back to Beat Toronto Blue Jays 4-3

PETE ALONSO HIT NO. 40, THE ORIOLES RALLIED, AND BALTIMORE IS STILL ALIVE.

The Orioles erased a 3-0 deficit and stunned the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 in Monday’s series opener at Camden Yards. Pete Alonso delivered the signature moment, launching a two-run homer off right-hander Tyler Rogers in the eighth inning after getting a 1-1 two-seamer over the middle of the plate.

Alonso’s blast was his 40th home run of the 2026 season. He becomes the ninth different player to record a 40-homer season for the Orioles, producing the franchise’s 10th 40-home-run season. It was the kind of superstar swing Baltimore needed—and it sparked a massive late comeback.

The win moves the Orioles to 76-81. Baltimore’s elimination number remains at two, and after another late, tight finish, the O’s improve to 18-24 in one-run games this season.

Shane Baz also kept the Orioles close after a nightmare first inning. Toronto scored three early runs after a pitch-timer violation walk, another walk, back-to-back RBI singles, and a sacrifice fly. Baz responded by working 5.2 scoreless innings, retiring 12 consecutive Blue Jays at one point, and delivering a quality start when Baltimore desperately needed someone to stop the bleeding.
