My trainer had me learning a new movement pattern, and the instruction was simple: slow everything down.
Every repetition had to be deliberate, controlled, and intentional. It felt awkward at first, but that's exactly the point. When you're trying to build a new movement, speed often hides mistakes instead of fixing them.
It's no different in golf. So many golfers want to hit balls at full speed while making a swing change, but if your brain hasn't had time to learn the new pattern, you'll simply fall back into old habits. Slowing down allows your body to understand what the movement should actually feel like before you gradually build speed back in.Whether you're in the gym, on the driving range, or learning any new skill, remember this:Slow is smooth. Smooth becomes fast.In this week's Wednesday Wisdom, I share why slowing down could be the fastest way to improve your golf.
