Monday With Meghan! Avs Make Easy Work of the Flames. Blackwood Becoming the Go To Goalie?

Colorado Avalanche outpace Calgary Flames in a dominant 5-2 victory—are signs of a powerhouse resurgence finally emerging? Mackenzie Blackwood flashes elite goaltending with highlight-reel saves, while Cale Makar and Devon Toews fuel the attack from the blue line. The conversation focused on the Avalanche capitalizing against a fatigued Flames squad, showcasing improved team speed, transition play, and a revitalized shot output across all three periods.

A key theme that emerged was the growing stability in Colorado’s defensive pairings despite concerns over Josh Manson’s absence and the performance of depth defenders like Noah Juulsen and Sam Malinski. The discussion explored frustrations with the underperforming top power play unit despite Nathan MacKinnon’s 5v5 excellence, and spotlighted Artturi Lehkonen’s timely scoring during his contract year. The show finished by unpacking Nikita Kucherov’s trade request and its potential ripple effects around the NHL.
