Coach Nick and Combo go live on a Saturday to react to the news of LeBron James signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, and Combo gives the fit an immediate thumbs up. They break down a projected starting five of LeBron, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe, and argue it might be the most talented group LeBron has ever joined, with the caveat that the weakest link here is stronger than on most of his old teams. Nick digs into the film he is cutting for an upcoming breakdown, why post-ups became LeBron's second most used action last season for the first time in his career, and the uncomfortable Jordan comparison on footwork and efficiency down low. They get into how LeBron's spot up shooting swings on spacing, his three point percentage dipping to the low thirties without Luka and Reaves creating for him, and why his lowest usage rate ever might be exactly what this offense needs. The conversation runs through Embiid's health as the whole season's X factor, the KCP reunion, depth pieces like Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons, and Adam Bona, whether Maxey can crash the MVP conversation as the real engine, and the big question hanging over it all: can Nick Nurse build enough motion to keep this from turning into your turn, my turn iso ball once the playoffs arrive. Plus super chats and the usual tangents.
