Interview w/ Coach Andy Fox (Associate Head Coach at George Mason)

Coach Andy Fox shares his journey from being a standout basketball player at Cornell (Iowa) to becoming the Associate Head Coach at George Mason University.

Andy got his start in the profession as Graduate Assistant at Tennessee under Buzz Peterson, he was retained when Bruce Pearl took the reins, the Volunteers captured the SEC East Championship in 2006 and earned 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

He went on to join the coaching staff at The Citadel under Ed Conroy and he helped propel the Bulldogs to a school-record 20 wins and the program's first postseason appearance in 2009.

Coach Conroy took Andy with him when he accepted the job at Tulane. After five seasons at Tulane, Coach Fox joined the coaching staff at Louisiana Tech serving under Eric Konkol.

After four seasons at Louisiana Tech he moved to Nashville and served in a multitude of roles under Jerry Stackhouse at Vanderbilt. The Commodores made a pair of NIT appearances and had their best season in over a decade during his time in Nashville.

Coach Fox spent the 2024-25 season coaching at Army West Point under Kevin Kuwik. In 2024-25, Fox helped lead the Black Knights to a historic season, which included the program's first postseason win in 55 years.

Tony Skinn hired Andy Fox to his George Mason University coaching staff in June 2025 and they pioneered the Patriots to the program's best-ever overall (18-1) and A-10 starts (6-0). They became the fastest in school history to reach 20 victories (22), they earned a spot in the 2025 NIT. In June 2026 Coach Skinn promoted Fox to an Associate Head Coach.
