PHILLIES POSTCAST: Philadelphia Phillies LOSE IN 11 innings to the Toronto Blue Jays 7-5

The Philadelphia Phillies BLOW 4-2 lead LATE and fall to the Toronto Blue Jays 7-5 in 11 Innings!

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. opened up the scoring in the 1st inning taking Aaron Nola deep on a solo homer

For five LONG innings the Phillies were unable to crack the code of Max Scherzer. Seemed every ball they put in play found the glove of a Blue Jay.  

Then finally in the 6th, Trea Turner and Bryce Harper smacked back-to-back solo homers, followed by a sac fly RBI by Brandon Marsh and an RBI triple by Justin Crawford. Phillies went into the bottom of the 6th down 2-0 and closed it with a 4-2 lead.  

It was another good start for Aaron Nola who allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks striking out eight. Nola started the 5th at 95 pitches but when Jesus Sanchez hit a comebacker off his ankle for an infield single, Nola was forced to leave with what was later called a left knee contusion.  

Brooks Raley came in and finished off the 6th and pitched into the 7th.  

The Phillies went to Jose Alvarado for the 8th. He recorded a strike out, then walked two. After a mound conference he got the second out of the inning then face Jesus Gimenez. He got the lefty in an 0-2 count then threw a COOKIE that Gimenez grooved into right center field for a game-tying two-run double. Orion Kerkering then came out of the bullpen and recorded the final out of the 8th.  

Chase Shugart pitched the 10th, allowing one run, but it was after a COSTLY misplay by Alec Bohm at first base. Bohm had the second out of the inning roll his way at first, with Shugart covering, but Bohm appeared panicked fielding it. His decision led to a bases loaded situation with one out. The next batter put came up with a line drive to right that would have been the end of the inning, but instead became the go-ahead RBI sac fly.
