PHILLIES POSTCAST: Sosa 3 RBIs, Painer No-No into 6th, Philadelphia Phillies top Cardinals, 6-5

The Philadelphia Phillies hold off the St. Louis Cardinals for a 6-5 Victory!  

The Phillies opened the scoring in the 2nd inning when Brandon Marsh led off with a single,  then came around to score when Cardinals’ starting pitcher Hunter Dobbins fielded a Derek Hill chopper and AIRMAILED the throw over first base and up the first base line. Hill took third on the throwing error and then scored on an Edmundo Sosa rbi single.  

They went on to plate another in the 5th when a Bryce Harper double play ball allowed Kyle Schwarber to score from third. Then in the 7th, Garrett Stubbs worked a five-pitch walker and score from first on an RBI double by Schwarber who laced one into the right-center field gap for a 4-2 lead.  

Andrew Painter took a no-hit bid into the 6th inning, where Herrera broke up the fun with a double into the left field corner, then Alec Burleson followed with a two-run single to center that cut the Phillies' lead to 3-2. Painter was pulled after Burleson hit for Alan Rangel who was able to get two strike outs to get out of the inning.

Painter’s line closed at 5.1ip two runs on two hits, two walks and six strikeouts .  

The Phillies added to their lead with an RBI double from Kyle Schwarber in the 7th and a two run double from Edmundo Sosa in the 8th.  

Rangel pitched through the 8th where he got into trouble, allowing three runs to make it a 6-5 lead. Sosa's double in the top of the inning, proved to be the difference in the game.
