The Columbus Blue Jackets rallied to beat the Dallas Stars 2-1 in a shootout on Thursday night at Nationwide Arena. The game was goalless through two periods before Mikko Rantanen opened the scoring with his team-leading ninth goal of the season 6:27 into the final frame. That lead held until the final four minutes, when Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski tied the game with a backhander in the left slot with 3:14 left in regulation. The Stars had the better chances in 3-on-3 overtime, but neither team found the net. In the shootout, Valeri Nichushkin and Kent Johnson both scored on their attempts, while CBJ’s Charlie Coyle and DAL’s Jason Robertson and Tyler Seguin were unsuccessful.
