QUESTIONABLE CUT: Did the Red Sox JUSTIFY Letting Eduardo Rivera Go While Keeping OTHER Pitchers?

The Boston Red Sox face tough roster calls as Craig Breslow trims the squad to 40, raising questions about the decision to designate 23-year-old lefty Eduardo Rivera for assignment. With Zack Kelly’s exit understood due to age and injuries, Rivera’s minor league success and remaining options make his potential departure a hot topic—will Boston regret letting him go?

Meanwhile, Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Caleb Durbin earn AL Gold Gloves, signaling an elite defensive core forming at Fenway Park. The conversation explores Abreu’s historic third straight award, Rafaela’s jaw-dropping range in center, and Durbin’s rise as a defensive standout at third. Key insights include how defense fuels the Red Sox’s strong pitching and whether this team is quietly building the league’s best defense. With looming roster deadlines and the Platinum Glove announcement, Boston’s blueprint for 2027 hangs in the balance.
