15 years after my first Western States, race day arrived with that familiar mix of anticipation and respect for the miles ahead. The heat was relentless, the field deeper than ever, but out there on those familiar trails, something clicked. This wasn't about chasing ghosts from my past. It was about discovering what's still possible when you step outside your comfort zone. Looking back on the day, I can only be happy with the result, finishing 80 minutes faster than I did in 2011, running the fifth fastest time ever. To me, it feels like a reminder that there is still so much possibility to grow. As for the canyons, the heat, the community that make this race legendary...they are all still here, more powerful than ever. Thanks to everyone who made this return journey possible. What's next?
