La Sportiva Prodigio Max review – first run and first impressions. There’s nowhere better to test a brand-new trail shoe than in Chamonix, and today I laced up the La Sportiva Prodigio Max for the very first time. This is La Sportiva’s brand-new max-cushioned trail running shoe, built with long distances and ultras in mind – so I was really curious to see how it would handle the rocky, technical Alpine terrain.

Straight out of the box, the Prodigio Max feels different to anything else I’ve worn from La Sportiva. On this first run I wanted to find out: does the extra stack height and cushioning actually make a difference on steep climbs and fast descents? How secure is the fit when you’re moving over uneven, technical trails? And of course – can it still deliver that famous La Sportiva grip in the mountains?
