In today’s video, Alex reviews the ASICS Slowcush, the brand new ultra-cushioned daily trainer from ASICS built around the new FF Blast Plus foam and sitting at a substantial 48mm of heel stack with an 8mm drop.
The upper is comfortable and roomy, with a semi-gusseted tongue, a nice textured woven material, and a fit that will suit runners with wider feet well. The heel comfort is a genuine highlight. The midsole is where the story gets interesting. The FF Blast Plus foam is genuinely luxurious underfoot, deeply cushioned and protective, and for heavier runners or those logging pure recovery miles at slow paces, it delivers exactly what it promises. However, at 8mm drop and with very little rocker geometry, Alex found the shoe slaps the ground at anything faster than around 5:15 to 5:30 per kilometre, creating a sluggish, stuck sensation mid-stride that limits its usable pace range considerably.
The honest verdict: this is a shoe for zone one recovery running and not much else. At €210, Alex questions whether a shoe with such a narrow use case justifies the price, and suggests ASICS would be better served incorporating this foam into the Nimbus line rather than running two overlapping products at this price point.
If you want an honest take on one of ASICS’ most interesting and most polarising releases of 2026, Alex delivers.
