If your takeaway is off, everything else suffers. This is one of the simplest ways to feel a connected, on-plane start to your backswing.
Place an alignment stick under your front armpit with the other end resting against the front side of your grip.
You want to feel pressure on that front side as you swing back.
✅ Chest becomes the engine of the backswing
✅ Arms and body move away in one piece
✅ Stick stays connected throughout the takeaway
That feeling of pressure on the grip is your feedback. If the stick falls away, the arms have taken over.
