In today's video, Alex reviews the Topo Specter Elite, the new race day shoe from the anatomically focused brand, and one that has genuinely caught him off guard.
The upper is classic Topo. The anatomical fit gives your toes the room to splay naturally, heel lockdown is solid, and the overall construction is in line with what you would expect from the brand. That said, the midfoot fit is not quite where Alex would want it for a race day shoe, and he has experienced some rubbing on the lateral ankle due to a slightly higher heel section, which is worth knowing before you commit.
Then there is the midsole, and this is where the Specter Elite becomes something special. The new REVFoam compound is bouncy, dynamic, and responsive in a way that left Alex genuinely speechless. It feels bottomless underfoot, and the progress Topo have made here is remarkable. For the right runner who loves a soft, lively compound, Alex is calling this a potential S-tier race day shoe.
