Kailas FUGA EX PRO Review | Next Level Rebound for Ultra Trail Racing

In today’s video, Alex reviews the Kailas FUGA EX PRO, the top of the line endurance racer from the trail running focused FUGA range, and a shoe we have already seen on the feet of professional trail athletes at some of the biggest events in the world.

The price puts it in the same bracket as other performance ultra trail shoes like the HOKA Tecton line, the Nike ACG Ultrafly and the Brooks Cascadia Elite. The upper is really comfortable, with a special lining built into the shoe and great lockdown. The fit is relatively narrow, as you would expect from a performance shoe. If your feet swell during longer races, consider going half a size up. For general running, true to size is a great option.

The midsole is the highlight. The supercritical pelleted TPU is not the softest foam among ultra trail shoes, but the rebound is next level. It pairs well with the carbon plate, and the plate’s design leaves the shoe feeling relatively decoupled, so it adapts well to the changeable surfaces you find on the trails.

If you are looking for a carbon plated ultra trail racer and want an honest take on one of the most exciting new names in the category, Alex delivers.
