How to Hit a Golf Ball Into the Wind | Titleist

Dave Phillips explains how to hit golf shots into the wind by controlling trajectory, choosing the right club and adjusting your setup to manage ball flight and distance.

Hitting a golf ball harder into a headwind can increase spin, causing the ball to climb and lose distance. Dave demonstrates why taking more club, such as switching from a 9-iron to a 7-iron, allows for a shorter, more controlled swing with less loft.

For stronger winds, he explains how moving the ball slightly back of center, widening your stance and staying centered can improve stability. Combined with a smooth three-quarter swing, these adjustments help control launch and spin while keeping the ball on a lower trajectory.
