Holy smokes. A lot of people come away from most bike riding trips and will tell you it's the best ever, best trails ever, best day ever, best everything ever. But I can hands down say. Hand on heart, this is the BEST place I've ever ridden a mountain bike.
Mt Prevost is located on Vancouver Island in BC about 45 minutes South from Nanaimo. It's been on my list of spots to ride since the early days of Stevie Smith's Seasons segment #longlivechainsaw
Since moving to Canada, everyone who has ridden here has said it's fast and flat out and I couldn't agree more. I think there are only two or three single black trails within this network, with the rest being double black or pro lines.
Our trip out here was over 3 days, spending 2 full days shuttling. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs, hungry to tick off the entire network and it's features but go humbled really quickly when we found out just how large and fast everything was. Day 1 was carnage with a lot of blinds pulls into the abyss's. Leading to a lot of FRONT wheel cases, frame cases and OTBs left right and centre. Day 2 we started to feel a little more comfortable with the speed however, would definitely need a few more days here to 'tick' everything off.
Shout outs to all the boys who came and threw down over the 2 days, it pretty much rounded the Summer out on a really high note. Will be back here in the New Year before it closes with hopefully a bit more confidence to tackle some of the more higher speed jumps. But until then, yeah. Will continue to dream about this place.
