Showdown at The Chicago City Am | Chasing a Lifelong Dream

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to win the Chicago City Amateur Championship.

Growing up in Chicago, this tournament meant something different. It wasn’t just another event on the calendar. It was the championship. The names on the trophy, the history, the golf course… everything about it carries over a century of tradition.

The 121st Chicago City Amateur was contested at the newly restored Jackson Park Golf Course, one of the most historic public golf courses in America. Opened in 1899, Jackson Park was the first public golf course west of the Allegheny Mountains and has served as the home of the Chicago City Amateur for more than a century. Legends of Chicago golf, including Chick Evans, helped build the legacy of this championship and this golf course. 

Standing in my way were two of the best amateur golfers in Illinois.

Michael Fastert is a multiple-time City Am champion and U.S. Amateur qualifier and one of the premier Mid-Am players in the area.

Mike Natale has also qualified for the U.S. Amateur and has built a reputation as one of Chicago’s toughest competitors.

Over three days at historic Jackson Park, every shot mattered.

This wasn’t just about golf. It was about chasing a dream I’ve had since I was a kid.
