Iran vs Taipei | Quarter Final Highlights | AVC Men's Continental Championship 2026. Iran defeated Chinese Taipei 3–1 in the quarterfinals of the AVC Men’s Continental Championship 2026 in Fukuoka, Japan. The final set scores were 25–19, 25–19, 21–25 and 25–18.

Iran controlled the opening two sets, winning both by the identical score of 25–19. Chinese Taipei refused to surrender and produced a strong response in the third set, taking it 25–21 and extending the match. Iran quickly regained control and dominated the fourth set 25–18 to complete the victory and secure its place in the semifinals.

The star of the match was Iran’s 22-year-old outside hitter Porya Khanzadeh. He delivered a match-high 24 points, attacked with an outstanding 67% success rate and contributed two winning blocks. His power, efficiency and consistency made him Iran’s most important offensive weapon.

Ali Hajipour, captain Amin Esmaeilnezhad and Morteza Sharifi each added 12 points for Iran. Sharifi’s performance included two aces and two winning blocks, while Esmaeilnezhad made an important contribution after entering the match as a substitute.

Chinese Taipei was led by outside hitter Chang Yu-Chen, who finished with 18 points. Wen Yi-Kai contributed 14 points, while opposite and captain Chang Yu-Sheng scored 11. Their attacking pressure helped Chinese Taipei win the third set, but Iran’s overall power and efficiency proved too difficult to contain across four sets.

Iran entered the knockout phase after finishing first in Pool B with an undefeated 3–0 record. Their preliminary-round campaign included victories over New Zealand, India and China. Chinese Taipei advanced from Pool C after recording one victory and two defeats, including a dramatic five-set loss against Thailand.

The quarterfinal victory sent Iran into a semifinal against Australia. It also moved Iran one victory away from securing a medal and qualifying for the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup. The eventual Asian champion will earn the continent’s direct qualification ticket for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
