At the time, Cooper had already put together a 25-win season in the AHL and was doing everything he could to earn the next opportunity.
Now, he’s gotten his first NHL preseason start with the Florida Panthers.
That’s what makes Cooper’s story so powerful.
He wasn’t handed a straight path to pro hockey. He was cut. Overlooked. Forced to take different routes. At one point, he nearly walked away from the game entirely.
But he kept showing up.
Kept working.
Kept believing there was another level ahead.
And now, one of those moments every young goalie dreams about is becoming real.
A great reminder that your path doesn’t have to look perfect to take you somewhere special.
