Korea vs China | Highlights | AVC Men's Continental Championship 2026. Korea defeated China 3–1 in a dramatic quarterfinal at the 2026 AVC Men’s Volleyball Continental Championship, completing an impressive comeback after losing the opening set. The match was played on September 10, 2026, in Fukuoka, Japan, with Korea winning 17–25, 25–21, 25–22, 29–27 to advance to the semifinals of the Asian Championship.

China made a dominant start to the match. Their powerful blocking system and aggressive attacking put Korea under immediate pressure, allowing China to comfortably win the opening set 25–17. At that stage, China appeared to be in complete control of the quarterfinal.

However, Korea responded with much greater stability in the second set. They improved their reception, became more effective in transition and started involving their most dangerous attackers consistently. Korea won the second set 25–21 before carrying that momentum into the third, which they claimed 25–22 to move one set away from the semifinals.

The fourth set was the highlight of the match. China refused to surrender, and both teams continued exchanging powerful attacks, huge blocks and pressure points. Neither side could establish a decisive advantage, pushing the set deep into overtime. Korea eventually remained calmer during the most important rallies and secured the two-point margin they needed, winning the fourth set 29–27 and completing a thrilling 3–1 comeback.

Donghyeok Im and Subong Heo were Korea’s biggest attacking weapons, finishing with 21 points each. Im recorded two winning blocks and one ace, while Heo added one ace. Middle blocker Sanghyeon Lee delivered an excellent all-around performance with 14 points, while outside hitter Sungjin Lim contributed another 11 points.

China’s standout performer was middle blocker Li Yongzhen. He scored 16 points, attacked with an outstanding 81% success rate and produced three of China’s 17 winning blocks. Outside hitter Wang Bin also finished with 16 points, while opposite Wen Zihua contributed 13 points.

Despite China recording an impressive 17 kill blocks, Korea’s balanced offense, improved consistency and composure during the decisive moments ultimately made the difference. After struggling throughout the opening set, Korea gradually took control of the match and demonstrated tremendous mental strength during the marathon fourth set.

The victory sent Korea into the semifinals of the AVC Men’s Continental Championship 2026 and moved them one win away from securing a medal and qualifying for the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup. The continental champion will also earn Asia’s direct qualification place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
