Ultra Running Recovery - Winning a 200-mile ultra across the North York Moors was a dream come true, but the physical and mental recovery bill hit far harder than I ever expected. After crossing the finish line and taking home the sword, my body completely shut down, leading to weeks of zero running, spiked resting heart rates, tanking HRV scores, and a massive hit to my Strava fitness. Beyond the physical fatigue, stepping away from daily movement triggered an unexpected mental battle with comparison, anxiety, and losing my main stress outlet.
